SAFECAP®
Self-Sealing Microhematocrit
Capillary Tubes with SAFEWRAP…

The Mylar wrap provide additional protection if SAFECAP breaks. SAFECAP® is a unique, self-sealing capillary tube with a Mylar wrap, designed to minimize the risk of exposure to HIV, Hepatitis, and other blood-borne pathogens.

FDA, NIOSH, CDC and OSHA all warn of the potential risk of injury and/or infection from bloodborne pathogens, including HIV and hepatitis B and C viruses due to accidental breakage of glass capillary tubes.

FDA, NIOSH and OSHA all recommend “products that use a method of sealing that does not require manually pushing one end of the tube into putty to form a plug.”

SAFECAP® meets these
recommendations from the joint safety advisory!

Here's How SAFECAP Works:

  1. Fill: The factory installed plug has a channel cut into it, allowing air to escape while the tube fills.
SAFECAP fills by capillary action.
The channel in the plug allows air to vent out of the tube.

  1. Hold Vertical: The channel seals automatically when blood touches the plug.

The channel closes automatically when blood touches the plug.
  1. Centrifuge and Read

This simple procedure produces additional safety benefits by eliminating normal fingertip contact, the hazards of manual sealing and the use of contaminated sealants. It’s that simple… it’s that safe!
